What do we do?
School psychologists are educational specialists that support students to be the best they can be in school. We collaborate with students, teachers, other specialists and families to ensure that a student's educational career is successful academically, socially, emotionally, and behaviorally.
How do we do it?
Through collaboration. consultation. and assessments we are able to identify student strengths and areas of growth in order to develop an environment and plan that best suits a child's needs. These needs can include support with academics, social skills, emotional regulation, executive functioning skills, and behavior management.
Why do I do it?
I believe that every child has the potential to be "successful" in whatever way they believe that to be when given the resources, guidance, and support necessary to do that. Education is about building and nurturing a person holistically from the inside out. We are not just teaching them how to read, write, and calculate; we are teaching them how to overcome obstacles, be kind to one another, problem-solve, regulate themselves, be flexible, develop grit, and so much more. We are teaching them how to be positive, functional, and contributing members of society, one lesson at a time.
